What is Tax Corporate Governance (TCG)
Tax Corporate Governance (TCG) is a subset of corporate governance that encompasses the rules, systems, and processes ensuring that an organization's tax management is conducted with accountability, transparency, and integrity. The framework is built upon three main pillars: mutual trust, understanding, and openness and transparency between the taxpayer and the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRBM). Through TCG, tax risk management is integrated into daily operations and overseen at the Board level to ensure the organization reports and pays the correct amount of tax.
Core Principles of TCG
- Tax Strategy: Ensuring the company's tax strategy aligns with business operations and corporate ethics.
- Cooperative Compliance: Establishing a relationship based on mutual trust and transparency with tax authorities.
- Risk Management: Managing uncertainties in tax legislation to prevent future disputes.
