Tax File Registration

Who need to register company tax file?

Registration of company's tax file is the responsibility of the individual who managing and operating the company.

Where a company commenced operations; they need to apply for registration of Tax Identification Number (TIN). Companies, limited liability partnerships, trust bodies and cooperative societies which are dormant and/or have not commenced business are required to register and furnish Form E with effect from Year of Assessment 2014. How to Register Tax File?

From 1 January 2024, application for Tax Identification Number (TIN) registration for Company must be made online through the e-Daftar application at MyTax Portal, https://mytax.hasil.gov.my.

TIN for company (C) is automatically registered for newly incorporated companies (local companies or foreign companies) that have registered online with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) via MyCoID Portal.

Documents Required for Registration

Please submit:

  1. Private Limited Company (Sdn. Bhd.) or Public Limited Company (Bhd.):
    1. A copy of the Notice of Registration issued under Section 15 of the Companies Act 2016; and
    2. A copy of the Certificate of Incorporation issued under Section 17 of the Companies Act 2016; or
      A copy of the Notice of Registration of Change of Company Name issued under Section 28 of the Companies Act 2016 (where applicable); and
    3. A copy of the latest Company Profile
      Items (i)–(iii) must be issued by the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM)
  2. Foreign Company or Overseas Company:
    1. A copy of the Notice of Registration of a Foreign Company issued under Section 562 of the Companies Act 2016; and
      A copy of the Document of Change or Alteration of Particulars Relating to a Foreign Company under Subsection 567(1) of the Companies Act 2016; or
    2. A copy of the Company Registration Document issued by the relevant authority in the country of incorporation; or
    3. A copy of the Confirmation of Establishment issued by a member of the company's Board of Directors. Item (i) must be issued by the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM).
After Registration

You are required to submit e-CP204 within 3 months from the date of commencement of the business.

A company is also required to submit C and R Form within 7 months from the closing date of accounts.
